Talent Acquisition Strategy

Most organizations begin thinking about retention after an employee has accepted a job offer. By then, many of the factors that influence long-term success have already been decided.

My approach begins much earlier. Talent acquisition helps prospective employees decide whether the organization, the profession, the community, and the lifestyle are the right fit before an offer is ever made. The objective is not to hire the greatest number of people. It is to hire the right people.

That means recruiting beyond salary and benefits to housing, schools, cost of living, spouse careers, and culture, and giving candidates a realistic picture of the job. Today's workforce often chooses where to live before deciding where to work. The strategy continues through onboarding, mentorship, and development, so recruitment and retention become one workforce strategy.
